Yes. After a safety briefing and sled-handling instruction you drive your own sled for 8–10 km through snow-covered forest. Guests over 16 take turns driving and switch halfway, so both people in a pair get time on the runners.
The ride lasts approximately 40–45 minutes. The kennel visit, instruction and campfire are arranged around it, and return transfers from Rovaniemi are included.
Yes. Each sled carries a driver together with another adult, an adult and a child, or children. Guests must be over 16 to drive, so younger children ride in the sled while an adult steers.
Warm winter overalls and snow boots are included, so bring your own base layers, hat and gloves. Rovaniemi’s winter temperatures commonly sit between about −5 °C and −25 °C, and a moving sled makes wind the real factor, so thin warm layers underneath matter more than one heavy coat.
You meet the dogs, see how a team is harnessed and have time to photograph them. Afterwards everyone gathers by the fire for hot drinks and traditional grilled sausages.
Yes. First-time mushers and families are welcome, and the safety briefing and sled-handling instruction come before you take the reins.
Most guests pair a husky safari with a reindeer farm visit and an evening Northern Lights tour. If you would rather have the whole stay planned around you, our tailor-made Lapland holidays bring the excursions, accommodation and private transfers into one itinerary.
