For Aapo Kemppainen, Lapland has been part of his life from the very beginning. Lapland Legacy grew from his wish to share it in a more personal way.
Born in December 1994, in the heart of the Arctic winter, Aapo grew up exploring Lapland’s forests, waterways and changing seasons. The long twilight, quiet wilderness and northern skies became part of his everyday life, along with occasional journeys by traditional reindeer sleigh.
Guiding visitors through these places eventually became a natural extension of what he was born to do.
After his studies, Aapo spent several years working in the public safety sector under Finland’s Ministry of the Interior. Alongside that work, he began creating and guiding experiences for travellers, gradually building a small business around the places he knew best. As it grew, so did his vision for Lapland Legacy: a local company shaped by the landscapes he loves and the moments he wants to share.
Scenic snowmobile trails, private viewpoints and accommodation shaped by his own vision for an Arctic stay became part of that story. Today, Lapland Legacy is a family-owned limited company welcoming guests throughout the year, with a local team bringing each journey to life.
In September 2026, EU co-funding awarded to Lapland Legacy supported the next chapter of its year-round travel offering. For Aapo, the reason is simple: Lapland has something remarkable to share in every season.
