Book Your Experience

Explore the winter forest after dark on a guided Northern Lights hike in Rovaniemi. Your route leads through snowy surroundings to a Private Hilltop Aurora Viewing Camp, where the open sky becomes the focus of the evening. Walking or snowshoeing brings you closer to the quiet landscape while your guide leads the way. At the camp, pause for a hot drink and watch for the first signs of movement across the sky. Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a driving licence to drive a snowmobile?

Yes. Drivers must hold a valid Category B driving licence that is valid for driving in Finland. Guests without one are welcome to join as passengers.

Can children come along?

Small children travel in a sleigh pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Children taller than 130 cm may ride behind an adult and are charged the adult price.

How much driving is there?

Approximately two hours of snowmobiling after dark, with two adults sharing each snowmobile and the option to switch drivers along the way.

Will we see the Northern Lights?

Possibly. We monitor cloud conditions and solar activity and choose the route accordingly, but sightings cannot be guaranteed. Riding after dark, well away from the city lights, puts you in the right place if the sky cooperates.

Is warm clothing provided?

Yes. Thermal overall, winter boots, gloves, balaclava and helmet are included, along with return transfers, hot berry juice and cookies.

Plan the rest of your trip

For a shorter evening by car, see the Northern Lights tour and campfire; for a longer chase, the Pro Northern Lights hunt. The same forest is walkable in daylight on our daytime snowshoeing tour. More on our Northern Lights holidays page.
