Discover a different side of Lapland as you set off by snowmobile after dark. Following a safety briefing and driving instruction, your guide leads you along snowy forest trails, across frozen scenery, and away from the city lights. The evening combines the excitement of snowmobiling with the quiet atmosphere of the Arctic wilderness, with time to pause beneath the sky. Two adults share each snowmobile and may switch drivers during the safari. Your guide chooses the route and pace according to the cloud conditions and solar activity. Personal assistance with capturing memorable photos during the experience. Warm clothing and equipment, hot berry juice, and cookies are included. Clear skies may reveal stars or the Northern Lights, making every evening different.

Good to Know

Drivers must hold a valid Category B driving licence that is valid for driving in Finland. Guests may join as passengers without driving. Small children travel in a sleigh pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Children taller than 130 cm may ride behind an adult and are charged the adult price. Even with active monitoring of cloud conditions and solar activity, Northern Lights sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Do we walk or snowshoe?

Either — the choice is made on the day according to snow and trail conditions. Deep fresh snow calls for snowshoes; a packed trail does not.

How long is the outing?

3.5 hours, including return transfers from Rovaniemi.

Where do we watch for the Northern Lights?

From a Private Hilltop Aurora Viewing Camp, where the open sky rather than the trees is the focus of the evening.

Do I need snowshoeing experience?

No. Snowshoeing takes about five minutes to learn, and your guide leads the pace. Thermal clothing and snowshoes are included.

Are Northern Lights sightings guaranteed?

No. Sightings depend on weather and aurora activity. The hilltop camp and the hot drink are the evening whether or not the sky performs.
